PRO 107 scanner issue

So iv'e always been a fan of the radioshack scanners but the 107 has got to be the worst one i have bought. It was working fine and now all of a sudden, the screen doesn't show anything at all when i power it up. I called radio shack to see if i could exchange it for a new one and they said since i paid for it using debit and lost the receipt and its been over 30 days, to basically push sand and im out of luck, i will never buy anything there again. I didnt think buying a service contract would be needed. The Radio has a 1 year warranty, have it sent in for service. I have not seen that problem with that model radio. You did try new batteries in the radio? Could someone have turned off the "Cut-off" switch on the levft side of the radio?.
