I'm new to this and just bought a Pro-136 desktop scanner, I manually set it on my local police station frequency. I only received a few transmittions over it, but it seemed like I wasn't hearing the full conversation. I'm going to return it today and pick up the pro 135, which is basically the same thing I think. But will this scanner work with a DPL tone? I don't think you can set the tone on the pro 135.

you will pick all of the TX in plain n FM Mode, dpl/ct are usually used to hear or block specific tx's that may be interfering , or if you are wanting to hear specific agencies & not the rest of em on that frequency

Thanks, I returned it and bought the pro 164, which seems to be working nicely so far...

EDIT: I do have a question on this one though.

One of the frequencies that I programed in is for the local police here. The exact information from RR looks like this:

155.64000 WPTF200 RM 654 DPL Police FM

Programed in on the pro 164 scanner basically looks like this:

M000DC 155.64000
DC: 654

The only problem is, there seems to be a lot of radio silence, its a quiet town, I only hear a few calls come in. Is that normal? Or am I blocking out some calls because of the DCS code, 654.

You will only hear calls on 155.640 that are using the DPL code of 654. If there are any other users on that frequency, you wouldn't hear them, unless they also were using a DPL code of 654. Maybe the lack of traffic is because it's a small town, or maybe their primary traffic is on another frequency, or maybe another system, possibly a trunked system.

Thanks, it's not trunked, I know that. I think its just because it's a small town. My friend works with the FD and is an EMT, I'll check with him to see if the frequency is right.
