What kind of scanners do you guys have? Is the Pro-135 a good beginner?

I have 996T and an Alinco Dual Band HT. The HT is mostly for Ham chats but i use it in the truck to monitor local police freqs.

I have one for basic stuff to listen to. Down here in Toms River, almost everything is digital encrypted, so the PRO 135 won't do. However, I like the simplicity of it, and I use mine for listening to stores in the mall, and my local FD/EMS.

Hey everyone, had my pro 135 for about a year now. Found it most useful when the threat of Tornados was present here in Missouri. Question: I'll be moving up to Alaska in the near future and I want to put up a base antenna for either my Bearcat BC355C or my Pro 135. Which would work the best, any thoughts?
