RS has on their URL a firmware upgrade for the PRO-163 and PRO-164 (Firmware Upgrade 1.02). Has anyone tried it?

OK, I gave it a try anyhow and worked perfectly. Took about 30 seconds.

Why does the update say "PRO-163 and PRO-164 Digital Trunking Scanners (Firmware Upgrade 1.02 (420KB))" ?

Those scanners are not digital trunking scanners..

Just an observation.

I saw that too (typo?), but after review of the installation program it does mention pro-164 ...I just performed this and it is working OK.

If it is like GRE's upgrade (1.02) this should include:

-Fixed: LTR ID code entry bug in ID bank. (Fixed from version G1.01)

-Fixed: EDACS ID code(AFS Format) entry bug in ID bank. ( Fixed from version G1.01)

-Fixed: Search stops at 147.9950 MHz in the search amateur bands.

-Fixed: S-meter icons appears when start Search in Search mode and Sweeper mode.

Amateur Radio is about experimenting …

Yep! I also applied it. No Problems. CPU Version now reports 1.02.

How can you tell what CPU version is on your radio?

Press 3 when you first turn on the scanner during the welcome screen.

How much is the upgrade at RS? Do I have to buy that software and cable frist?

The updates are free you need to buy the cable.

Upgraded mine a few days ago. It only took about 30 seconds and it was very easy.
