PRO 163 firmware update is out. Version 1.03 is in effect.

Well, I get it to unzip, but it doesn't want to open to run like version 1.02 did. Am I downloading it wrong, or opening it wrong?

It unzipped fine for me. I usually unzip to a destination folder of my choosing the execute from there.

Great, I just found a bug in the firmware prior to this, I hope this fixes it.
It has to do with type I fleet maps not programming correctly in Block 2 and Block 5

Off to download the new one.

Well, it unzips, but won't do anything. I downloaded the 1.02 when I bought the radio in June. Didn't have a problem with it. What gives?

My first attempt went to TEMP files, then I could not find it.
So I unzipped again in the saved folder, this creates a .exe file, click on that and follow the directions.

Five minutes later updated, but still don't know what it did.

I updated mine and I have no idea what the update did. I assume it was for certain systems who already did the rebanding. My production date is march of 08 and when I first looked at the firmware it was 1.01.

Apparently, RS doesn't include the release notes with the updater app when they put it on their web site.

However, version 1.03 of the PRO-164/163 firmware is identical to version 1.03 of the PSR-300/400 firmware. The release notes for the GRE version say:
CPU Firmware Version - G1.03

-Fixed: Motorola UHF trunking bug when calculating the frequency 512.000

ok i went and bought the cloning cable for my pro 163!!!and still can not fiqure the stupid thing out?first they want you to download software from starrsoft and its not free when you download it from site it cant find dll
