I am looking to buy a new scanner, and was wondering if a Radio Shack Pro-164 will work for Culver City and Lapd Digital Frequencies?

Culver City Frequency is: 453.26250 Type:RM Tone:141.3PL

LAPD Frequency: 484.38750 Type:RM Tone: 466 NAC.

If a Pro-164 will not work, can anyone recommend a scanner that will work for these frequencies for under $300? Thanks.

Nope. The Pro 164 is not a digital scanner. You will need a Pro-196 to listen to LAPD.

Oops. I meant the 106. Damn 0 and 9 on this phone!!

Hopefully Radioshack has another sale so you can probably pick it up for under 300.

Would a Uniden BCD996XT work for Culver City and LAPD? Culver City frequency is P25, so I was wondering if this would be able to pick that up

I might actually go for both. Thanks for telling me about the Pro 197, it looks good from what I researched. Glad to know they will work. Thanks again

453.2625 is the wrong freq. for Culver City. They are trunked, see
Interagency Communications Interoperability System (ICIS) Trunking System, Various, California - Scanner Frequencies

I monitor LAPD Pacific Div. and Culver City most of the time. I prefer the Uniden XT models, they work well and I'm more familiar with their programming than with GRE or Radio Shack models.

Would it be 482.36250c? Sorry, I'm not used to Digital scanners, just the analog ones. THanks

Yes, Culver City has gone to some digital talkgroups on the trunk system and they have six frequencies.
Go here for more info.
Culver City Site Details (Interagency Communications Interoperability System (ICIS))
Do you know and understand trunking systems?
If not, you will need to learn that first whether digital or analog. 482.3625 is the control channel at the
present time.
