What are the advantages/disadvantages of the Pro-164 over the Pro-97?

First, rebanding. Second, more step sizes for the newer narrow band frequencies. Same amount of memory, same programming software: Win97, faster programming with the USB cable. I have the base/mobile version-163. The 97 sits collecting dust now:( Use the 163 for conventional scanning and my 106 for TT analog and digital systems.

Thanks Larry,

I already have a Pro-97 but since RS is doing a sales for the Pro-164, i'm getting one today, Rebanding capability is definitely a plus. Good thing it uses the Win97 since I use it with my Pro-97 and Pro-2055.

I may as well get a Pro-163 since it's around $139 right now. I have to try other scanners since I have always had only RS scanners whic I like a lot.

Paul, I use a 106 mobile and as a base when home. I have milair programmed in, and it receives almost as good as my 163. What kind of antenna are you using for milair. My setup at home is a 144Mhz/440Mhz dualband ham antenna by Larsen. Works great on the 163. For ht's, I use the Comet CH77A. It has been a workhorse for the milair band. Sorry for the off topic post.
JMO,
Larry
