I am a little bit confused by what I am reading in the manuals for RS Pro-163 & Pro-164 concering trunking and non-trunking channels.

It says:
"You can define any of the 10 banks as a
trunking bank, but each bank can only scan for
one system: Motorola, EDACS (GE/Ericsson),
or LTR (EF Johnson).

Note: Trunking banks can contain both
trunking and non-trunking channels."

I think I understand the first part it when it says you can define any of the 10 banks as a trunking bank but I don't understand dthat it can also contain non-trunking channels.

Does it mean you can put both trunking frequencies and non trunking frequencies in the same channel. If so, do u put the trunking freqs in first then the non-trunking freqs?

I'm confused and looking for answers from the 'pros'

Thanks
Dave

It means you can put in a trunking system and a conventional system in the same bank. Just not two trunking systems.
EDACS and LTR trunking systems need to be put in in order. LCN order I think they call it. So in a nut shell EDACS starts at channel 01 and so on . Make sure you program them just as they are written. If channel 04 is blank skip it and go on. Make sure you start at channel 01 not 00. LTR is almost the same . Usually 01 03 05 and so on. Just enter then as they are written. As for Motorola I am luck, there isn't any in my area........Ray

Yes, that is precisely what it means. I'm not sure about the scanner models you are asking about, but with the Uniden BC780XLT it does not matter if the conventional (non-trunking) frequencies are entered ahead or behind the trunking frequencies.

I have RS Pro-163 & RS Pro-164 which has 10 banks and 1000 Channels to each bank.
So what you are saying is that i can put Trunking and Non Trunking Frequencies in the "Same Bank", just can't mix EDACS and LTR trunking systems but MOT and not Conventional Freqs. Is that correct?

I look forward to your reply. Thanks in advance.

You got it. Mot and Conventional work just fine together,

Wow!!!
just the answer I was looking for, thank you very much. I was thinking it was a waste putting the MOT freq's in a bank all by themselves and the conventionals in another. Now since I can combine these, it really opens up some banks for me to put other stuff.
I will keep the EDACS by themselves, and the LTR's by themselvs too.

Much thanks to all.

A bit more about Motorola systems. You can put more than one Motorola system in one bank IF they are separated by enough miles. For example, if Charlotte, Raleigh and Greensboro all had Motorola systems, they could be in one bank since they are far enough apart so you would receive only the control channel you were near.

EDACS and LTR system freqs. must be in specific channels, (the Logical Channel Number), usually starting in ch. 1, but Motorola freqs. can be in any channels.
You can also put conventional freqs. in the same bank with an EDACS or LTR system.
