Pro-18 belt clip replacement

No, I haven't broken it yet. Since I've mainly been running the scanner at home or in a vehicle since getting it last fall, it hasn't become an issue...yet. But with the spring weather and doing a lot of outdoor work around home I'm carrying it with me quite a bit...sooner or later I'm gonna snap it, I just know.

I found, I thought at least, a thread on here where someone had discovered a Moto clip that was a very close match to snapping onto the Pro-18 case and would even lock on with just a bit of mods. I thought I'd bookmarked it, but evidently I didn't and I've been playing the the search for the past hour with no luck. That was before I bit the bullet and bought the scanner on sale so maybe not. Anyone else remember seeing this? The Moto clip was a spring-pivot type that was a lot more robust than the cheapie RS opted for and ought to be a lot more durable...unless I'm imagining having seen that thread...

I haven't broken a Pro 18 clip yet but I have broken 2 PSR800 swivel clips!
I just made up a couple of pouch type holders now, 1, a single pouch made out of Kydex and leather with a swivel clip off an old cell phone case and a double leather pouch with belt loops for use with multiple scanners @ the races.

This probably is not the old thread you mention, but here's a thread about applying a moto clip to an RS106.

Edit: Sometimes when chasing old threads, I find the search-tool here to be a little weak, and instead use Google, but after entering the keywords, also enter (without quotes) "site:forums.radioreference.com". Sometimes this gets better results.

That's the thread! Thank you! Don't know why I thought it was PSR-800/Pro-18 (well, actually I do...getting senile). I'll have to do some checking and see if the 106 has the same style of clip. Also, thanks for the search tip. I sometimes have good luck with the site search, sometimes it obstinately refuses to find something that I know is there.



@Sportster77: Nice rig! I probably should do something like that and call it solved. But I get anal about making stuff work the way it's supposed to work...probably the reason I have so much gray hair!
