The plug that I use for the 97 (c) will not work with the pro 197.

I checked mine from n-m and it didn't slide in but I may be wrong. I haven't tried the adapt a plug method yet on my 197. Maybe someone else knows

"T" [tango] I believe. In stores but, last I checked, not on the web, which was odd.

Doesn't an AC adapter (with correct tip) come in the box with the radio? I hope so, since it is a desktop/mobile unit, and on the Radio Shack website it says it comes with an "adapter" (of some sort). I just assumed it did, but I could be wrong:confused:

It does come with a wal wart but some have had issues with an over active power supply that may be the cause of their display looking reversed.

Confirmed, it is the " T " adapter. FYI/FWIW, I am running it with the RS 3-12v/1.0a AC adapter. It's lighter than the 12v/1.5a adapter. It provides just over 12v without load and just under 12v with the scanner running (the difference is ~.10v).

sounds like you got it.. but for others...

dont try and use the Pro-96 or 97 adapter.. even if u changed the tip...
the voltages are different (9v vs 12) .. you might fry the scanner
