Looking to put an antenna somewhere on the bed of my pick up truck, not looking to do a roof install...

Can anyone provide some info on a good long range antenna for this? Scanning 800mhz fire department frequencies.

New to the whole scanning thing, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Well a good sturdy antenna that has the bands of 150/450/800 MHz would be the Larsen Tri-Band antenna. There are other 800 MHz antennas out there but I don't really know much about them because I don't really listen to 800 MHz and so I don't need a 800 MHz antenna.

How exactly are you going to mount a antenna? Do you have a toolbox that you can put a antenna on?

I'm getting a tool box for the bed of my pick up, I've seen people mount antennas on the sides, do they make mounting brackets specifically for this?

I'll have a look at the Larson, thanks!

Disregard, just did a little research on "scannerworld" and found some good stuff. Thanks!
