I am programming my Pro-197 using Win500 (V02.06) as I have been doing for the last 10 plus years & I have noticed while scanning (both conventional & trunked systems) it is not catching ANY of the conventional channels that are in DCS mode. I am having no problems receiving any other conventional channel with PL, NAC etc. It will work stop on the channel when I change the mode from DCS to Search & when it parks on that channel, it will find the DCS code (as listed in RR Database) & when I store it to the frequency, again, it will will not detect it during scan mode. No problems receiving it in manual mode parked on it but in scan mode, nothing.... Any thoughts? I am baffled.

I would suspect the "HD5 Fade" setting is too low. I've had the same issue and bumping it up to 2000 appears to have fixed the issue.

Kevin, the "fade timeout" was set to 2k. I bumped it up to 3K & although & in the past 20 minutes, I noticed a difference so far. Thanks!!!!

One significant problem with the PRO-197 (or PSR-600) is that they use the DSP for decoding CT/DC values. It gives me great grief when receiving CHP on low band VHF because you NEED the tones for effective squelch control on the noisy low band. The analog scanners employ an IC that is dedicated to this function and works very well.

I believe the code (firmware) to drive this function in the DSP was not complete when GRE went out of business. It certainly could work a lot better. BUT, they did give us knobs so we can tune the settings. For me it has been a delicate compromise with these settings to get something that works without issues.
