Hi all,
Has anyone tried to calibrate the signal meter on this radio by changing the signal stength values?
I get full bars on an average signal, as my Icom PCR2500 shows an S7 for the same signal.
Clearly the default values are way too high...

I'm not sure anyone has posted about the 197 meter values, but there has been a discussion about the PSR500/600 which you might want to look at.

My Pro106 seems to give more realistic meter readings than either my PSR500 or 600, even though the firmware is supposed to be the same.

The fact that it's possible to change the values for each bar of the S-meter tells me that it is not gospel. Change them to suit your needs per that article, or...

You might want to tune in a weather radio transmitter or other signal source that you can vary by moving the antenna around or collapsing the back-of-set antenna. Then see what settings give you the desired indications.

I don't sweat it. I mean, I'm not using the thing as a calibrated reading. Most of the stuff I monitor is trunked so the S-meter doesn't even tell me anything I need to know anyhow.

Good luck.
