On powerup, the "T" does not display in the window when everything else does. And when I am receiving a trunking control channel, it doesn't display in the upper left of the window.

However, when I run WIN500 in the display mode, on the computer, the "T" shows up when a trunking control channel is receiving data.

Does anyone else's PRO-197 or even the 106 not display the "T"?

Thanks.

The "T" symbol is showing up on my screen-- you first notice it when all the indicators come on for a second at boot-up. Before panicking, I would attempt to reset the radio using the methods indicated in the instruction manual starting on page 90.

Thanks. I tried the reset on page 90. It reset, but the "T" is not showing up.

I went into the GLOB CONTRAST settings. I went from mid, to lowest, to highest, and the CONTRAST does NOT change.

I'm not talking about the DIM/brightness, but CONTRAST. It screen is not very visable from other than straight on.

After you changed the setting, did you hit the "SAVE" button ?

Yep, I hit the SAVE soft key.

Still does not change the contrast.

Also, WIN500 doesn't have contrast settings...

thanks

Oh Oh... perhaps a bad unit.

My 106 contrast changes noticably. It does make a difference on the viewing angle when I adjust the contrast level.

Same here. My scanner's display drastically changes in real time as I left/right arrow through the contrast values on the PGM GLOB menu.

Thanks Don. Found the CONTRAST on WIN500. It was set to 16, so I set it to 8. Did not make any difference.

Again I went into the CONTRAST menu on the scanner, and ran the left and right arrows back and forth. NO change. I save it high, or save it low, no difference.

Also weird that I cannot see the "T" on the screen of the scanner, but can on the "screen" in WIN500.

I've bought high end/low end electronics all my life, and this is the first time a product had something wrong out of the box... guess I have been lucky.

Sure sounds to me like a bum unit.

Exchange it while in your 30 days for sure.
