Purchased a Pro197 used off Craigslist on Thursday for $150.00. Purchased the programming cable from RS yesterday and updated the cpu to vers 2.0. The cable came with a 2-week trial of ARC500. I reset the radio so it was like the first time you would turn a new one on. All worked fine. Programmed the Collierville, TN Public service system using RR dtabase. Collierville is an LTR system. I couldn't get anything to receive on the radio. Went back to the software and put in about 15 frequencies that I used to listen to on my old scanner. This seemed very easy to do, Two of the frequencies I use are the Home channel for police and home channel for Fire. I put them all in as CONV freq and am able to monitor all without any problem. I was wondering why the trunked LTR system didn't work.
Very happy with the purchase so far. I was listening to an accident scene yesterday afternoon involving police, fire, and medical wing in Fayette county. That scene was about 30 miles north east from where I live. Interesting thing, I have no problem receiving to the east, south and north of my home for frequencies up to 30 miles away or so. I can get Germantown now and then which is about 12 miles west and I can't get anything out of Memphis which is closer to 20 plus miles west. I assume my problems to the west must have something to due with terrain or buildings.
