Pro 197?

I am in the market to buy a new scanner for in-dash mounting...and see that the PRO 197 is on sale for $289.00 at RS.com. I already have the usb cord and WIN500, but I was really looking at getting a Uniden 996T. My MAIN question is, how does the 197 perform when used with a MOTO external speaker? My 106 is horrible with it...and this is very important to me since it will be in-dash. I did some searching but didnt see any threads mentioning this, hopefully im not stepping on any! thanks

The 197 works great with an extrenal speaker. The 106 does not because it is made to work with headphones and does not have the audio power to drive the speaker.

If you have a aux for your car stereo you could plug it in direct and play thru car speakers.

I use my 197 in the house with a 30-year old Motorola speaker, it sounds loud and clear. If I have it loud enough, it can be heard clearly outside with all the windows shut. Works great for me.
