There really is no cause to shout (all caps)....

The PRO2004 has a huge number of mods that can be done to it. It's rightly famous as an experimenter's paradise. Check out:

My question is the 9 volt battery in the back compartment is for memory i would think !!! I replaced it with brand new ones 3 times. Im still lossing the memory everytime i turn it off , what might this be if you would have a good guess or if anyone else knows??

I have a modified one myself, and haven't had this problem yet (no, I don't work on radios anymore - eyes are not up to the small stuff). At a guess, I'd say that the battery leads to the circuit board (which are quite thin) may have fraid or busted. If that's not it, a path that leads from the plus side of the battery lead to a memory chip is gone.
No I don't know of anyone that works on these anymore - I don't think G&G does, and he's usually backed up horrendously. An outside possibility - an email won't cost anything - would be the Radio Doctor in Richmond. His email address is:

The 2004 is not the most sensitive of the bunch, but it does get the job done. Hopefully you can get this fixed quick, as the holidays are fast approaching. 73s and GL....Mike

I did a ce232 in a 2006 during the 90's, wasn't too difficult if you follow the instructions. What kind of troubles are you having with the install ?
