Wow, are you really hearing enough single-channel/non-secure military traffic in the 'Fox Mike' band to make it worthwhile to mess with a PRO-2006 that way?

I assume you're mostly hearing some range control & Dustoff nets.

Newer scanners such as a Uniden BC-785/796/996 have NFM, FM, & WFM modes, with the 'FM' mode being wide enough to provide decent audio for the 30kHz-wide analog FM deviation military 30-88MHz radios.

Back in the day when I was SIGINTing that stuff a lot, I'd use a PRO-2006 for scanning/searching, but then when I heard something decent, I'd monitor it on an Icom R-7100 using it's medium FM bandwidth mode & a military surplus 30-88MHz log-periodic.

Does the 2006 use the little black plastic filters or the longer rectangular metal ones? I have a drawer full of filters and some probably 30KHz. I also have a PRO-2004 at work somewhere but am too busy to find it and crack the case.
