I just acquired a pro 2006 desktop scanner and the whip antenna was bent over and broken. I'm looking for a new whip antenna as well as recommendations for an external antenna. I have a TV tower that 60 feet tall and I could put something up there but I don't know what's compatible with this thing. I'm new to this sort of thing and interested in scanning the ham bands mostly

Any Amateur Radio FLEAS this weekend nearby ?

I bought a couple of years ago some to fill out my fleet, for $2-$5 each, don't just look for the screw in version, likely best to access the rear BNC with an Angle, that way you can also adjust (left/right etc) the antenna for optimum performance.

For my location, and I surely don't have a 60 foot tower, I have used a discone antenna for the exact applications you are looking for. A discone will provide you coverage for both civilian aircraft as well as military aircraft. It's big plus for your application and question, is that most discones will also provide you transmit/receive capabilities on 2 meter (144mz), 220mhz, and 440 mhz. Some discones can also provide those capabilities for 6 meters as well. I am sure others have opinions and will provide them.

The threads on the broken whip are female at the mount

Thanks for the reply. I’ll start researching that now

Done this at several locations. My scanners and receivers are fed from one via a set of distribution amplifiers, and even at 25ft elevation I can hear there and everywhere.

What I was suggesting is/was to ignore the screw in, too subject to damage and is rigid.

Try looking for these flavors, to use on the back/external BNC

Ii think the point of the suggestion about the L connector was that he doesn't have to settle for whatever has an angled connection. He can purchase any antenna that has a BNC connection and mount that on the L connector. That way, he will have more of a choice as to which antenna he wants to purchase.

I found a whip with angle on eBay and a programming lead for the pro-95. Trunker. They’ll send me software for win 95/winNT. I have a laptop with a handy replaceable drive. I have a drive for Windows 10, Lennox, undo 22 and now I’ll get another drive to reestablish Windows 95 I think this old Dell laptop actually has drivers for Windows 95 and I have a CD someplace so the software they send me should allow me to program trunks (Which I have no idea how they work) 😆

For your usage an EDA2004 (4 port unit) would work nicely. I run a bunch of their 8 port units, each fed by a common 4 port head end. Our TVs are also fed by this arrangement.

if you are trying to listen to WISCOM, none of your radios are digital capable.
Yes I realize that, but for $20 I figured I could jump in and check it out. Maybe I buy something more exciting later. For now just getting ham to work would be exciting :)
