Hi guys,

My old warhorse Pro-2006 needs a new backlight. This is the second time I've done this surgery on this radio, but the first time (Probably 10 years ago), RS Parts still stocked the replacement panels.

I've researched replacement panels and many people suggested a vendor from Hong Kong on eBay. I purchased a panel from them for around $10.00 and it should arrive soon. The problem is, the replacement panels are larger than the original. They apparently can be trimmed to size, but once cut, do they need to be sealed? If so, how do you do that?

Has anyone on the board done this?

Thanks again

I've done it on my 2004 with the Asian panels on eBay. You don't have to seal it or anything. Just cut it to size.

You should not have any problems cutting the EL I use a very sharp razor blade to make a clean cut. You can seal the edge with a small slice of clear tape.

I have both of the 2006 and 2004 displays that are exact fits and do not fail after several years of service if you need one.

Enjoy

Hi guys,
Thanks so much. I appreciate it.

Good to know I can just cut it to size. I assumed I could, based on what they said on the ebay listing, but you never know....

Wmbio: Thanks.. I will definitely keep this in mind if the other one, on it's way from Hong Kong, doesn't work.
