Pro-2006 worth?

I have an opportunity to trade a weapon for a pro2006 described as excellent condition, what would the $value$ be? And is this scanner really all it's cracked up to be? especially with everyone going to trunked and digital systems? Although not in my area any time soon.

Also what would the value be for a pro2044 in good condition?

I just can't seem to find anything on the net about the 2044, and all I seem to find on the 2006 is on ebay.

I love mine!!!!!!!!! It's very basic, but It has a very good VHF Hi receiver. I'd love to find another.

The pro-2006 was a very good desktop/mobile scanner. I bought one sometime back in either the late '80s or early '90s and would not part with it for anything. It's dedicated to the single task of providing analog input to a trunker program which logs RCS (as in http://www.rcs800mhz.org) control channel activity. In that role, it's used as a simple receiver rather than as a scanner. Despite how good the pro-2006 was, I would not purchase another pro-2006 today.

I use a couple of 2006's to monitor military and civilian air. I think they are great receivers, and like you, I live in an area where digital really doesn't impact me. They seem to go on ebay for 150-225ish. The question is, what weapon are you trading? If it's an H&K, I might have one to trade :lol:

Thanks everyone for your input. It's a Ruger P90. I decided to keep it. The value is more than the scanner, and as my wife pointed out, everyday I have to go into areas that most law enforcement personel try to avoid. I was confronted by a "group" of "gentlemen" in one of these areas in Gary, and if it wasn't for the fact I had my .45 with me, who knows what would have happened, thank GOD for "conceal carry", I didn't even have to un-holster it, just casually pull back my shirt, revealing it. Sometimes thats all it takes.

I'm getting my CCW license in a few months. I'm going to carry my Glock 27 .40cal subcompact. I even installed night sights and a Lasermax

Not sure what your laws are where you live. It's generally not a good idea to "show" your piece to intimidate, or thwart off a would be attacker. In Michigan, even if you have a CCW, you can get arrested for doing so! The golden rule is, if you show it, you better use it, and if you use it, you better hope to God you kill them! Anything else will land you in a big pile of dodo!

Yup, thats true..

CCW = Concealed carry weapon.. Here in Texas, if you unconceal it when you don't need to, you are going to jail.. Even if you have it in a belly or back holster, someone realizes thats a gun under your shirt, they call the cops, you are going to jail..

Rocketman, give me the Ruger p90 if you don't want it. :lol:
