My Pro-2028 has been working fine for at least 2 years.

Now just a few days ago it started causing popping noises and other noises on UHF-High like 430MHZ+ especially around the 453.xxx range.

Is there any way to replace a part inside that perhaps went bad and is now causing interference?

The 2028 itself still picks up channels with no issues, it's just annoying other scanners.

I notice if you push on the power cord on the scanner end (trying to see if tight connection) it ends up causing more static somewhat and even the scanner itself can spit out some static if you push just the right way.

When you hit "Manual" and some other keys, it causes interference as well, every time a key is pressed, kinda like how you hear the phone when you dial it.

Some Good News

Well it appears I can still try and use this unit, my only solution was to put it as far away from my other units as possible and it seems it must not be transmitting the interference too far as that seems to solve the problem.

Some old bearcats had this same problem. External antennas usually cured the problem too.

Well I will definitely give that a try again, cause I hate to get rid of the scanner like I said because it still seems to receive very well even though it's WFM in an NFM world.

EDIT: Oddly enough there might have been a "bad channel" or something in memory, cause just to see what happens, I 0'ed out all 50 channels (some which where from a different area yet locked out) and reprogrammed only what was needed and it seems the scanner may have actually calmed down. Maybe lockout to this scanner doesn't really mean lockout. So far what seems to be working the best is, turning squelch up to medium vs just over where static stops, and using internal antenna and being far away from other units.
