The PRO-2051 received type acceptance today. Uniden model under AMWUB331. Not sure of the specs yet (haven't read the manual yet). Looks like a Base/Mobile combo unit.

On a related note, the BC72XLT portable also received type acceptance today under AMWUB223. Looks like it's a non-digital Race Scanner.

According to page 5 of the manual, it may have the Close Call feature. Then again, it might be an error of the "early draft" manual.

It looks like it's similar to the BCT-7....

From a glance, looks like a mobile/base of the 83, or the 97

Yes, the 2051 LOOKS like a base/mobile version of the PRO-97 even though the 97 is a GRE product and the 2051 is a Uniden product. Here is the header from the 2051 Yahoo page thus far:

Radio Shack
PRO-2051
Base/Mobile radio
scanner made by
Uniden Corporation. This unit features 1000 memory channels and
Radio Shack's new Signal Stalker (Uniden name Close Call)
technology that captures signals that are transmitted in close proximity
to your location, although the SS function is limited to ONE BAND
ONLY at a time. This unit also receives Trunked (ANALOG ONLY)
Motorola, M/A-Com EDACS, and LTR systems. Type acceptance
was received under AMWUB331 on 11/08/04 and is carried under
Radio Shack SKU #20-426. It seems this is a base/mobile version of
the PRO-97 portable that recently received type acceptance.

Well, I mentioned the BCT's because the manual says that it has the Highway Patrol Alert feature that the BCT's are known for. Unless it's a combination feature along with the Signal Stalker.

Plus, if you compare photos side by side, the Pro-2051 faceplate is identical to the BCT-8 except in white.

So I still stand by my guess, sort of.... :D

Well well well a true hybrid mutt! LOL its a Uniden made Radio Shack with the 1000 chans of the 2052, Alpha Tagging and LTR again, and tech from the BCT's! This will be the one I want till everyone around me goes digital. Since its a analog trunker, with the CTCSS/CDCSS... and a base/mobile design..... Its perfect for my needs. It'll be under $300.00 most likely, and that puts it on the affordable slant. I didn't get a chance to read all the specs and all.. but will look closer at the freq coverage,.. maybe itll do mil air too??? That would be marvelous. And since itll be able to do multiple systems both trunked and conventional... itll be what the 2052 should have been.

Since Radio Shack is selling it, I would imagine about $249.00. It should be $199.00, but I guess RS has to pay their generously paid employees, and their high tech research and development team for creating such a work of art. OOPS I mean facsimile.

I ran into this back in '98 when I bought a PRO-90 (Uniden BC-235 clone) for $100.00 more because it had the word PRO on it I guess.

About this start date of Dec 19, 2002. I have seen at least a dozen people with this start date. I guess it was a popular day.

Regards
Richster.

No its not just for NASCAR freqs,.. its going to feature specail cases that have NASCAR logos, and possibly famous NASCAR racers numbers etc.... As for the number of posts,.. At first I posted a lot while learning about TRS's back in the TRN days... and posting a lot of info when I lived in NC, and SC,.. and most recently helping a lot of folks out,.. keeping MS news up to date, especially once I made admin for MS. Yes in the beginning I was a PITA, but I settled down to a point. As for that just under $300.00 price for the 2051 when it makes it to the shelf,.. that sounds about right. I expect the 2096 to pop on at $500.00 minimum.

And for those that follow RS line up,.. confusing aint it? 2050, then a 2053, 2052 around the same time,.. now the 2096, then 2051... keeps you guessing. Maybe in the next ten years, we will see all the spaces between 2067 back, and 2096 back filled in???
