pro-2051 help

I am trying to scan on a trunked motorola type 2 800mhz system. I live in lexington sc. Anyways i keep getting alot of loud noise on the trunk system. I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. I have reset the scanner about 7 times and redone everything. I have entered all the freqs and ids that i can find online. I have seen once online someone talking about it being a data channel. If thats what it is when i turn off data it should stop right? It doesnt. I have had my scanner a week. Can anyone help me? It makes it VERY hard to use my scanner as i need to sit beside it and push the hold/resume button every 5 minutes. it will say 60423 and start making loud sounds.........

I would guess it is a digital signal you are hearing. I noticed that SC has a Digital system scattered state wide and Lexington is one of the cities that is listed.

It's a data channel and they used to plague me all the time cause I ran my 2052 and early on my 2051 in ID search mode only. This doesn't seem to happen in id scan mode, however in scan mode it will totally overlook traffic on a talk group ID that is not entered.

Talkgroup 60423?

I checked the RRDB and talkgroup 60423 is not accurate in the listing for Lexington Co. Is it possibly 60432? That ID# corresponds with the RRDB. It is a digital encrypted TG for the Lexington Co. Sherriff's Office. If you haven't already, try posting in the South Carolina forums for more help and ideas. Several of the regulars there are very helpful.

Is there a way to scan one group? Like all i want to scan is 900mhz. The only way i know to do it is scanning through the 800-900 range. Just takes forever to get to the 900 range i want.

I checked the RRDB and talkgroup 60423 is not accurate in the listing for Lexington Co. Is it possibly 60432?

Just FYI - 60423 is 60416 with 3 bits (0, 1 and 2) set.

Al 42, I had thought it could be status bits in the back of my mind.

Smokestack, just remember the 2051 will not trunk Moto 900 Mhz systems. I believe it will scan conventional 900 Mhz.

Is there a way to scan control channels? without entering all the talkgroup ids? I dont think i have enough room to enter all the IDs i want to listen to. I might be confused as to what to enter too. I dunno.
