I would go with the Pro 97 it does everything the 2051 does but adds mil-air and alpha tags which you really need with 1000 channels. Its not on the radio shack website yet but you can order it from radio shack and its the same price 199.99.

Thanks for your reply. A couple of questions. Is the pro 97 a handheld? And does it have the signal stalker---close call feature, that the pro 83 and the 2051 have?

You can get a A/C adapter for the Pro-97 makes it cost a little more than the 2051 but alpha tags are worth it.

Thanks for the information fireant, but at this time I am not interested in another handheld. I have the Pro 83 and the Pro 94. But thinks anyway!

I owned a bct 7 which had preprogramed frequencies for highway and local. There was 25 empty spaces that could be programed with frequencies of my choice. This would allow me to scan the preprogramed frequencies and the ones that I programed into it that I was interested in. Although it would take sevral seconds to make a complete cycle I could find additional frequencies I was interested in and still monitor the important ones. My question is, will the Pro 2051 allow me to program some frequecies into the preprogramed portion of the scanner? I have read the manual at radio shack and did not see this information.

Thanks

I played with the 2051 the other day at my local RS. It appears you can scan the preprogrammed state "bank" as well as the regular banks. It's easy to see uniden built it, hard to use right out of the box

I won't pay $200 to buy one though. I'll wait for a mobile 246T
