Pro 2052 and trunk tracking

Hello everyone...

I'm trying to get my 2052 to work with a trunked system and not having much luck...

so my question is can the 2052 even monitor this system as id'd below?

my initial thought is yes but then the 2052 doesn't do APCO...

It will monitor only the Analog transmissions.

Are you having problems programming the frquencies for a trunked system or just that you cannot hear the digital transmissions? As previously posted the 2052 will monitor and follow all the talkgroups assigned on the Moto Type II system (analog), but any talkgroups that are using APCO (digital) equipped radios will be inaudible on the 2052.

While I'll admit it takes a little while to get used to the whole trunking thing, the manual will guide you step by step how to setup the trunking service type you wish to monitor. Good Luck!

My only thought is to make sure squelch isn't turned up too high. Turn it only past the point where the hissing stops.

You've got to have the scanner programmed incorrectly. You should be hearing the analog transmissions as well as the digital noise. But none the less "ya better be nice", cuz of the digital.

You should at the least be able to hear the buzz of the CC in manual mode....

Here is step by step for the 2052-
Press and hold trunk till it beeps and the numbers flash
Press the number of the bank you want to put the TRS in
Select E2-800 for the Mototrola Type II 800 MHz TRS
Program in all the freqs.
Hit search
Once the scanner gets the CC.. you will see: -- --- on your display
Now press Manual
Program in the analog talkgroups you wish to hear
Hit scan!

I agree that you should at the very least hear the control channel. If you are not receiving the control channel, you need to relocate the receiver to a location where reception can be obtained or invest in a better antenna.

P.S. The control channel sounds like garbled electronic noise, just in case you never heard one before ;-)
