Alright, so I'm completely in love with my Pro 2052, except for the fact that it has that nasty orange backlit display. I'm looking for a way to install a trimmer of some sort so that I can control brightness off/on/variable and don't want to open mine up unless someone else has done it, and can show me a picture of the install, with instructions if at all possible.

PS- I Tried Search too ;)

Funny, I just completed a backlight replacement on one of my 2052's and on my 2040.. Can't give any advice on a manual dimmer, but here is what's inside. Sorry, should've taken pics...

Two screws underneath, four on the sides. All phillips. Pop off the bottom, and you'll see the backlight assembly. The bulb itself is held in an orange-colored rubber mount. If you were to pull that off, and figure out how to mount the bulb, you would have almost-white light on your display. I installed a new 1.5v bulb, it is a bit brighter than the original- I think. You could probably dim the display by installing a 6v or 12v bulb. Once you are looking inside, everything is obvious- where to clip, solder, etc.

Hope this helps.
