• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello everyone Im new to this board and am also real new to trunking a scanner. Our local area has went to trunking and I need help trying to get my scanner to pick up those freqs. I have tried everything the manual said several times and get no where. It would really help if someone could tell me where to get the trunking freqs if there is such a thing.
Thanks everyone sorry for being so stupid.

Did you check the database here first? This question could be answered much more efficiently if we borrow a line from real estate agents...

Where are you (city/state will do)? Many areas are going to a digital format which the 2052 can't handle. Hopefully that's not the case for your area.

According to:

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=2998

there's a P25 system in WV - the 2052 can't handle that, nor can it handle the LTR systems. However, the conventional stuff should be no sweat. Are these the freqs you are using?

There are a few scanners out there that can handle the P25 system...look at:

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/RR_FAQ
see the 'Specific Scanning Questions' topic and click on the scanners listed there

Finally for 2052 information look at:

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Pro-2052

I saw your shack in the photos area - nice! The 2004 is not as sensitive as the 2052, but it will still do the job well. Both scanners are pretty good air (both UHF and VHF milair, and civil) scanners (with the right antenna, of course). My 2004 is pretty much on its last legs but still plugs along. If you're interested in that, check out the ARTCC pages we have on both Washington and Memphis, both seem to touch your area.

You might want to jump to the WV forum for more information. 73s Mike
