Looks like the PRO-2052 is out it's way out. On-Line is out of stock, Phone ordering is out of stock. Most all the local stores in my area, Macomb, Mich. are still showing inventory. So if you want a new one, better bust a move over to your local Radio Shack!

i really doubt anybody cares about the pro-2052 anymore?

Mines been scanning every day for over 5 years, your doubts would suggest that I turn mine off and do something else.

I justed picked one up for my father used and from what I could tell it seemed to be decent scanner. Had excellent audio from the internal speaker which is located in the top for a change instead of the bottom. Great entry level scanner for somebody who is no electronic wiz and just wants to monitor their local emergency services.

One of the reasons I posted my original FYI on this, is because it's one of the few scanners that will receive UHF Military Aircraft! Oddly enough, it's apparent replacement, the PRO-2051 does not.

The 2052 can be controlled by a computer without any mods. That along is a good feature.

I've had mine a month, and no problems so far. I found it exceptionally easy to program trunking freqs, especially vs. the nightmares I had with the 2051. In fact, operation across-the-board is much simpler than the 2051. M225-400 Mil band is a big plus if you're around a military airfield. Speaker output is satisfactory, but I prefer using an external speaker with my radios. Only way to do this with the 2052 is to plug the speaker into the headphone jack. The resultant audio output is very low, even with volume full up.

If you short across R34, you can provide full volume control on the headphone jack (J1). R34 is a SMD mounted on the bottom of the main board near the speaker, behind and underneath the 11 pin jack (J5). Of course, this may void your new warranty.
