This is how I have my first file setup for Pro-96

0. Local police
1. Fire
2. EMS
3. Rochester City police
4. State Police
5. Sherriff
6. Airport
7. Coast Gaurd/Border Patrol
8. Kodak
9. Skywarn and Misc Frequencies of interest

Hopefully this will give you some insight on how to setup your banks of interest. It will take you a while to get it set up just the way you want it.

I have the pro 2052 scanner which has 1000 channels. Could anyone give me some categories that I could arrange the banks with?

Well, you are lucky that you have twenty banks with fifty channels
each !

You could dedicate one trunk system per bank, if you are in an area with lots of systems.

I guess you could sort Emergency Services by the counties you receive . You may want separate banks for Railroad, Aviation, Maritime, Amateur Radio, Military .
It's really up to you. What suits your monitoring habits ?

My banks always end up being like soup....everything all mixed together. I try and try to keep them organized but I can't :D I have fire police ems and everthing else in the same bank.

What I TRY to do, since I live in such a rural area, in the first bank or two I use it for my conventional local freqs. Police, Fire, EMS, Etc. in bank 1 and 2 if you need it. Then I put the 2 TRS systems I use most in the next 2 banks and add use conventional freqs to fill up the rest of the space in the trunked banks.

Then use the other banks for when I travel to neighboring cities or when I hook to my base antenna I can open them up.

That's how I do it. Or try to at least.... The thing that has helped me more than anything is the BC246T. The memory management on that radio is AWSOME!
