pro-2053 scanning EDACS

i have a pro-2053 and i am trying to scan EDACS STANDARD. i programed all the controll freqs. in the right order but the funny thing is in scan it wont pull up the controll channel so i can't get any transmissions. but when i scan through the bank in manual i can hear transmissions. somebody help me please. i am in the katy, texas and i am trying to scan montgomery county it texas. so please help.

In an EDACS system you must put in ALL the freqs. and they must be in the correct channels per the LCN (Logical Channel Number) - not necessarily in order. The channels are denoted by the small numbers in front of the freqs. in the RR database.
NOTE: The Montgomery county system leaves channels 5 & 6 empty.

Also, make sure you start the first frequency in channel 01 in the selected bank and as Dick stated, skip channel 05 and 06 in the bank.

I just set Win93 with Montgomery system with 95 talk groups. Win93 is free software found at www.starrsoft.com. You will need a Radio Shack cable 20-047 to program the scanner at about 32 bucks.

Under my signature is a link for RRWiki scanner shortcuts. The 2053 is not listed but the Pro-95 is and programs exactly the same other then it has 50 frequencies per bank instead of 30. The talkgroups sub banks are the same as those in the 2053.

thanx for all ya'lls help with my problem. i programed my channels to the last post but i still can't pick up a control channel. i am progamed it into my pro 97 and and it is still not working. am i doing something wrong????????? help me somebody i am lost

If you do not PICK up a CC .. you will not be able to monitor it.. Try a different or even outside antenna. Enter exactly as Frank has posted in above message, MAKE each frequency as well as the bank MODE st to (ED)ACS_ mode.

funny thing is that yesterday while i was at work i picked up the controll channel on and off yesterday afternoon. i have the radioshack 800 mhz antenna on my pro-97 and it is not working. could it be how far i am away from montgomery county. well i re programed my pro-97 and i can pick up the control channel some times but while scanning won't pick up any transmissions and i am still having problems with my pro-2053 picking up the control channel.

If you're "picking up" (hearing) the control channel it is not trunking.
To make sure you are receiving the control channel, you must be in MANUAL mode. and step to the control channel freq., then you should hear the strong data "buzz".
If you hear it, then push SCAN and it should start trunking and you will hear the Talk Groups.

Just to be sure it's programmed right, send us the list of the channels in your scanner and the freqs. that you have in them. It you're using Bank 1, the first freq. should be in channel 101.

it is working now but i have to adjust the squelch so much that i can't scan any other conventional banks i have programed. does that me that i am to far from that sounty to pick it up clear. also on the motorola i can pick up all the way to galveston county and i am able to scan conventional channles i also have programed

The above link is the four towers for the EDACS system. The southeast tower on Wigginsville Rd is 34 miles to downtown Houston. That tower may not reach more than a couple of miles past Spring Creek (county line).

so do i need a stromger antenna? right now i have a radio shack 800 mhz antenna i am using until i figure out if i need to get a new antenna
