Has anyone done computer programming on one of these? If so, does it use the same two-conductor cable as the Pro-94? Which software are you using? My ScanCAT Lite is so old it does not list this model. Picked one up this weekend at Pacificon. They must have been clearing out obsolete stock.

Thanks

The older PRO-94s aren't computer programmable - only the newer ones are. A 2 wire cable sounds like a cloning cable, which is not what you need here....This, among others, will work with the 97....(assuming you need a USB cable, with newer PCs, that's the way you have to go...)

GRE sells the same cable, and I'm sure others sell cables that will work...

Ditch Scancrap for programming the 97. What you want is Win97

With a premium subscription you can download data from the database here on RR directly into Win97

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/subscription/

or ask in your state's forum for a .p97 file (that's the extension Win97 uses) for your area. There are several other possible sources of files - the Win97 Yahoo group and your state's Yahoo scanning group are just 2.

I program my Pro-94B with the two conductor programing cable, (DB-9 on one end and a mono plug on the other) from my computer, (I feed it through a USB / RS-232 adapter). It looks like this cable utilizes a stereo to mono adaptor, resulting in a two-wire connection to the radio. Am I mistaken?

Thanks

I program my 2055 with the R/S usb cable. You can also use the Grey serial cable, 20-289 althogh I think it has been discontinued. There was also a black serial cable that R/S sold quite a while back, not sure if it would work or not

The gray cable, the same one I use for my Pro-94 works fine. I am using the trial version of Win 97. It works great! I wish he had a version for the Pro-94. It is MUCH better than the ScanCAT Lite I use for the 94. Thanks to all for your help.
