I've been pulling my hair out for the last 3 hours with this.....

It seems that the PRO-2055 that I am programming for someone constantly freezes while scanning. The display will blink once (like a quick reset) and the radio will not move on to the next bank.

Scenarios tested:
EDACS + Conv in the same bank
EDACS + Conv in the same bank w/ PL and spaces removed
CONV only in a bank
CONV only in a bank cloned to several banks.

It seems that when I lock out the channel i'm freezing on, it still gets "stuck" on that frequency. When I delete the frequency and reprogram the radio - the radio find a new frequency to get stuck on.
This is on several banks, always the same frequencies.

What could be causing this problem?? Is the PRO-2055 flakey?
I have firmware version 1.01 date code 08A07.
Radioshack took down their support page so I can't even check for newer firmware.

Frequencies causing issues so far:
453.6125 453.4375 458.8000

I'm programming with ScanCatLite and the WHITE Radishack Serial Cable

I just tried the Butel ARC300 and the same thing happens..
Same frequencies! It just halts scanning and the screen flickers a bit.

These are quiet frequencies - there are no birdies or activites on them..
It almost looks like the scanner does a memory overflow and can't continue.

I even tried scanning up and down - no difference.

I can not begin to tell you all of the problems that using ScanCat(Lite) has caused people. There are tons of negative reports here on it.

Either program by hand or get yourself a copy of WIN97 to program your scanner. The small registration fee is well worth it (unless you like being frustrated).

I think I figured it out...
First, the power supply is from my Astron, running all my other scanners.. No other problems.
I did factory default the radio, and reporgrammed it - same story..

So, after leaving this at 1.30am last night, I came home from work, walked straight to the radio and reprogrammed it with the Butel software.

You know what they say - S.S.D.D.
So, I started going through the frequencies.... Where does it stop... Same freq it always was.
But, I advanced the scanner one frequency and found that the next channel was an Odd Step (Not a default step for the band plan).
Yes, THIS ONE was a programming issue. I fat fingered in 160.525 instead of 460.525.
Problem solved?? Yes, for this hurdle, the scanner scanned bank 0 for the first time ever with out stopping.
Now, onto my FDNY bank... The Fireground freqs are using 6.25 splinter freqs. No Go on this rig.. That bank does not work.. I have to round to the 12.5 khz freq for the scanner to work.

I found a few more frequencies that didn't follow the UHF 12.5 band plan. I will be doublechecking these in the FCC database and fixing if needed. If they are correct, I will be rounding up or down as needed.

Needless to say, this radio has kicked my butt!

FWIW, I found the same thing on my PRO-2096 using both the Butel and Scancat software..
I'm grabbing a beer, I deserve it! lol

Thanks for the help guys
