Greetings from Brockton, Ma

I am thinking of replacing my pro-2036 with one of the above. A friend of mine Matt from Ark. asked if I had digital here in Ma??

Have no idea if we do or not. If anyone can help me out regarding this matter I would deeply appreciate it. It is going to be a sizable investment of $400-$500 for a new scanner and want to make sure that I purchase the correct one.

Thanks again for your help

Well, it looks like the MA statewide system is a mixture of digital and analog, so if you wanted to listen to that system, you WILL need the PRO-2096.

John,

If you have the cash, go with the 2096. Here's why;

1 - Should survive 800MHz rebanding, 2055 more than likely wont.

2 - Although the database here shows the Mass State Police TRS being mixed mode analog/digital, it's not there.....Yet! Still analog but in a few years it's probably moving toward digital.

3 - The V-Scanner feature of the 2096 is worth it's price. Amounts to 11 500 channel scanners rolled into one.

4 - Digital audio is superb! As stated above, there's not much digital around here (yet!), but it's better to have than have not!

Also, look for any Radio Shacks around the Brockton area that may be closing/going out of business, as they are having good sales right now. I believe you can get a new 2096 for $399. Also, the PRO 96 is the exact same scanner as the 2096, just a handheld model. Same price though. Good luck.
