To those who have this radio, I have one and noticed the ATTENUATOR acts very flaky. It some times acts OPPOSITE of what it is supposed to do. For example I have to keep it ON even if the frequency I am monitoring is normally medium/strong. Its very intermittent and sometimes I have to toggle it on/off for the same frequencies. Has anyone experienced similar thing?

So you know, I'm psychic!

You are listening to VHF and you are using an external antenna, you are being densensed by FM broadcast station(s). Get yourself a FM broadcast trap/filter.

All GRE-based scanners for this.

Then you have something in-band in that range desensing you also.
It only does this on my Pro 2055. I also have a Uniden BCD996P2 and BCT15X which do not exhibit this problem. Not a problem since I will be retiring the Pro 2055 shortly when I get a new radio.

As I said, it affects all GRE-based scanners, of which Unidens or not.

They put the ATTenuator on there for a reason. Sometimes reducing the signals coming in actually makes the radio receive them better. There's a lot of filters out there. This is the one I use.
