Although this is an older model, it still works great however, I have a conventional frequency I'm listening to, and it sounds fine except I'm getting what seems to be station identification in the form of what sounds like morse code. It stops as soon as a conversation starts but if the user keys in while it's sounding off, it repeats until the morse code is complete which is really annoying. I have a handheld which has the same freq. and there aren't any (beeps) or morse code sounds during monitoring. Anyway, I was hoping someone out there could tell me if there's a way to block the beeps yet still hear that freq. such as my handheld does? Thanks!

Hi & welcome to the RR forums: If said frequency has a PL/DPL tone, program it in. This may stop the repeater ID from coming through

Hi Whiskey3JMC, The code is 167.9PL but I have no idea how to enter it into the radio. I looked over the manual and it has nothing to reference it for me regarding that. Does my model radio even support or have a place to enter the PL code?

Follow the directions on page 59: “Using CTCSS and DCS codes”. It’s the same as a PL tone. Good luck.

Good Morning, I do have that exact manual you have linked and you are spot on about poorly written. I'll continue to search for a way to enter that code in hopes of eliminating that annoying beeping each and every time they chat or once an hour every hour. Thanks for your reply!
