PRO-2067 interface issue

I have both the old GRE PGM cable and the new 20-047 USB. I was going to reprogram the old 2067 so I could resell it and cant get either cable to work. The GRE on a computer with DB9 does not show CLONE mode when plugged in and I've checked the comm ports. The 047 will send data from scanner to Laptop but not the other way. Any ideas ???

It's not supposed to; at least mine doesn't go into the clone mode when the serial cable is simply plugged in. The computer/ software must initiate the transfer, at which time the Pro-2067 says something like, "TRANSFER" or "UPLOAD" and shows progress. Once the transfer is complete my radio automatically tunes to channel 000 in manual mode.

The only time I've seen it go into the clone menu is when I plug the 2067 directly into another or a 92 using the cable that came with the radios.

The 047 will send data from scanner to Laptop but not the other way.

Please clarify -- are you trying to initiate the download (from scanner to computer) at the scanner or in the software? As I note above, in my experience the software must initiate all uploads and downloads. I've only ever used the serial cable, but I wouldn't expect it to be any different with the new USB one.

You haven't mentioned what software you're using on the PC side. If it's Win92, do you see any error messages on the PC (and, hopefully, you're ignoring the scanner's instructions and are not pressing any keys on the radio)?

I use the usb cable. when it is plugged into the 2067 or the 92 it does show the CLONE MODE up to send message. You have to start the tranfer from win 92 menu (Upload to Scanner)

Might want to try it on a desktop and see what happens. I have not been able to get my laptop to work with the USB cable yet.

I found that the original GRE cable is bad. I've PGM'ed this unit many times but its been on a shelf for a year since I got my 96 and 2096. I found a "Purple" cable I can use on my desk top and will try again. I do use WINxx. Thanks for the help.
