I have a Pro 2096 and have an outside antenna with a RG 58 cable with a banana end and a banana to BNC adapter on my scanner. The problem that I have is that some times my 2096 will stop on (like 33.64 ) and will not show the sign that it is recieving a signal.

And also when the county dispatches on 33.90 sounds good but, some the of the working frequencies some times I can barely understand the dispatcher is saying to the units.

I got a new banana to BNC from RS, is there better adapters that I can get? I think that adapter could be a bit tighter.

I would say your coax would more of a issue that the adaptor, RG58 is not a desired type to use not unless it is a very short run. An antenna suited for low band would an another thing to look at, you did not say what you were using.

The banana jacks I would think are more of a problem than the RG58. I would look to replacing them before going any further

Sorry about the delay, I have a discone outside. I think the problem is the adapter because the cable fits loose to the adapter and adapter to scanner is not tight. I tried the telescope whip for scanner and that thing fits on tight and sounds good. I was wondering if any one made a good adapter. I will keep trying a few things.

Cut the banana off and solder either a bnc or a pl259 with an adapter. The antenna will never work properly with all of those connections you have going now.

LMR-400 Ultraflex is the only way to go for the 800+ MHz frequencies.

Cable X-Perts usually has a good price, and offers cables of various lengths with connectors installed.

There is no need to go that far but the RG58 is just not made for what you are using it for.
