Hi guys
Iam monitoring what seems to be a community repeater or it is a community trunking system
anyways the frequency iam monitoring is 858.00625
anyways during the day there are many users using it, Its pretty easy to tell when a different company uses it as the Tag ID changes. However at night it makes a continous grinding noises. I only want to monitor 1 companys radio traffic and for some reason I cannot figure out how to only program their ID tag into it and ignore all the other users.

But at night, it shows the grinding noise tag as 0721 and then a percentage and it keeps moving
like one second it shows 85% then another second it shows 99% , 58% 62% etc
what does that mean?

I checked the FCC database and no one is licensed on that freq in this area. So Iam guessing its a trunking system and Iam only monitoring one frequency in this trunking system. I only get the ID tags when I change the mode to MO =Motorola, for edacs it simply says none, no Iam guessing its not an edacs system but a motorola trunking system. Ive been into scanning for years but in this area, there is no trunking systems except for this one that I came across just doing a search of the 800Mhz Band, so Iam new to this trunking stuff.
Thanks
J

Take a look at the database here on this site based on your state. There is a lot of good info here.
The percentage indicator you are seeing is how good the radio is receiving the signal on that frequency. It almost an S-Meter type indicator.
From what you are describing of the sound, its probably a Motorola Trunking system and all the frequencies should be pretty well known out there.
You can also post a message in the state specific forums down below....

Best of Luck...

What you are describing is what happens when you lock onto a trunking system control channel. It is giving you a system ID and and the level of reception, or signal strength as Tom said. Try programming that freq in and set the freq and the bank to MOT. See if you pick anything up. Some systems rotate their control channels...perhaps this freq becomes the CC at night. Good luck!!

J,

The only time you will see the xx% on the display is when a programmed Motorola Control Frequency is selected manually. The upper left corner will indicate Mxxx (xxx is bank & channel #) and the upper right will indicate + or - MO. Line 2 will have the CC frequency and line 4 will indicate one of the following depending on which baud the CC is decoding.
M36:XXXX xx%
M96:XXXX xx%
36 is for 3600 baud and 96 is 9600 baud. XXXX is the SysID and xx% is the decode rate of the CC data stream.

The center group (SysID) may not be present in all 9600 baud CC systems. We in Virginia have a new statewide system evolving which does not display the SysID, however, the decoding rate is displayed. We've had to use a special STARS Pro-96COM utility designed by Mike Vander Veer to grab the SysID and most importantly, to define the necessary tables required to program the scanner using Win96 by StarrSoft.com

BTW, we'd be SOL without either of these outstanding programs.

Which of these Motorola trunking systems are you monitoring?

Well its not listed on that page
but their radio license is
WNMT911

its listed as belonging to the city airport, but there are many other users on it, Iam guessing the moto radio shop did this so they could get by cheaper?
I work at this airport and use the radios, when keying up the airport radio and monitoring with a scanner,it stops on those frequencys as well as many other users and it also displays ID tags thats why I figurered it was some kind of trunking system. All the other users on the system are not other airport users. One sounds like they haul dirt and gravel.
So Iam thinking the radio shop set it up this way so they could get buy cheaper (not having to license another trunked system) I could be wrong though
