Pro 2096 pgm cable ???

I have two serial port cables for programming my Pro-2096, On both cables been getting the following message; "expected to read back the data we just wrote-this failed. Ensure the correct port, supplied cable and scanner turned on."

I am using the latest win96 software, could my serial port have gone BAD?

have you recently plugged th cable into a different USB port perhaps, Also the PCIF port on the scanner may have become loose inside the radio, check software & device manager & see if the comports are matching up. and try & check "use extended write time also
just reread you message , youare using serial cable so?? not sure, at least check in device manager & try differnt comports
