Is the PRO 2096 capable of receiving trunked frequencies on a 500MHZ Moto type II system? I was told the 2055 I currently have are not capable of this. Any input is appreciated.

I have not tried a 500 MHz system, but the 2096 does track my 400 MHz DOD system.

Now you may have to set the table(s) up to receive the system. The base, offset and step. If the system has more than one table, then the only way to get it to work properly is to use software to program the scanner. The scanner cannot do more than one table manually.

Where is the system located. It should have the table info in the DB for your settings.

Yes, the 2096 will do the Ocean Co 500 system and so should the 2055 for analog transmissions.

Set the tables using:
PGM>TRUNK>FUNC + 2 Then FUNC + 3 to Table.

Right upper side of selected Channel tab set the tables for Base, Offset and Step

Don't program any talkgroups with a D (digital voice) under Mode. It appears all of the police are digital.

To program this system in the 2096 with Win96 select Multi table under MOT 3600 CC and set the first three tables as in this illustration.

As fmon pointed out you may need the WIN96 in order to program those tables (is the system needs them)

Because its original frequency coverage does not include any 700, so no possibility of monitoring it (even with extended freqs & Custom tables)
Maybe the maker of Win 96 can comment on why that is

25-54 5 kHz
108-136.9875 12.5 kHz
137-174 5, 6.25, or 7.5 kHz
216.0025-221.9975 5 kHz
222.000-225.000 5 kHz
406-512 6.25 kHz
806-823.9875 6.25 kHz
849-868.9875 6.25 kHz
894-960 6.25 kHz
1240-1300 6.25 kHz

I'm curious now -

If the 2096 will track these frequencies - why won't it track the 700MHz frequencies used by ASU out here?
