After a year of flawless operation my pro 2096 now frequently will stop scanning. It's not as if it goes into pause, it stops on a frequency as opposed to a talk group. Another words it may stop on a fire talkgroup and then I realize I'm hearing public works or some other talk group that I do not listen to in closed mode but the text tag still says it's on the fire talk group. It will stay there whether or not there's a transmission, until I hit scan.

I work around a lot of electronic equipment so at first I thought it may be some sort of interference causing this. I also have a pro 96, so I brought that in the shop and set them side by side and the 96 worked fine while the 2096 kept stopping, so there went that idea. I'm scanning a digital system in Montgomery County Maryland.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

-Mike M.

It could be that the control channel data is being interrupted by a nearby signal. If you monitor the control channel what does the relative signal percentage read? Did you try the attenuator?

That's exactly what the problem was and turning the attenuator on (the control channel) did the trick. Our radio shop is right across the street and I suspect they did something a couple of months ago when this started happening. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate it.
