I've got an old Radio Shack Pro-39 handheld and suddenly the "3" and "6" key will not operate. Has this ever happened to any of you? I opened it up and hit it with some compressed air with no results. Don't have any contact cleaner but could get some. Any of you have any helpful hints? I don't use it a lot but obviously I need those keys to work.
Thanks.

I had this happen with my first scanner (Pro 50) a few years back. I used contact cleaner, as well as replacing the keypad itself. Good luck!

Yeah, replace that keypad. The old Realistic (RS) scanners' keypads tend to wear down when they are that old.

Good Luck! :)

Replacement keypads havent been is stock for 7 years. Carefully remove keypad. Clean circuit board with pencil eraser. Clean keypad with cleaner and cross your fingers.

VERY carefully and VERY lightly. You just want to take off the surface film of dirt, not the contact itself, which is only a couple of thousandths of an inch thick. Pink Pearl erasers are less abrasive than the ones on the ends of most pencils.
