I know that means that it was made in june of 1992.

I bought this scanner off of ebay for $100. I know its alot but one that was apparently "unblocked" was selling for $190 with two days left!!!

I bought this scanner because of the good MilAir feedback you all have said on this site.

I have no interest of the "cell bands" and i dont intend on listening to them. But this scanner appeaers to be "wide open".

From what I've read, not know, it is not illegal to own a scanner that can recieve thes freq's. It is only illegal to listen. (Right or wrong?)

If it is illegal to own I will get rid of this Pro-43 right away, I DO NOT want to break any laws. I am a honest citizen of the USA.

My question is was this scanner made in June of 1992 with these freq's unblocked or has this scanner been modified? It also receives the 50-80Mhz bands too.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon G.

In the good ol' U.S. of A., it is illegal to listen to cellular calls, and it is also now illegal for anyone to modify a scanner to make the reception of cellular calls possible. But it didn't used to be illegal for a private individual to modify a scanner to enable that portion of the band, even though it is now. You did not do the mod, so the law doesn't apply to you. Ownership of such a scanner is legal, it's the use you put it to that may break the law. Keep it, it's a great little scanner! I have one (modifyable but unmodded) and I wouldn't sell it unless somebody made me a crazy-high offer! I might swap it for a 796 or a Pro-96!
