Is this work keeping? Somewhere I recall hearing it may pick up the military air. I'm sorry, the excuses for not keeping up to date here are selfish, though should improve as fall to winter comes as business slows, that's the honest answer. Thanks in advance...Dave

Hello,

Yes the PRO 43 does pick up MilAir rather nicely in fact. If that is your listening preference than by all means keep it.

I just picked one up last week from ebay because of all of the positive postings here about its milair sensitivity. The postings were right on the money.

Hello,

I still have mine that I bought new. Date Code 8A2 (August 1992?). Still works great. I wouldn't sell it.

Thanks, I will not give it away, which was my first thought, have all the new stuff, and a lot collecting dust and stuff. This will be fun, appreciate your feedback...Dave

I just picked one up yesterday at a hamfest for 20 bucks. Always wanted a PRO-43, but they were pricey before trunking and digital came along. Can still get some good use out of it since our city only operates on 2 trunked channels and many regional services are still on VHF and 450-460 UHF.

Wasn't there a PRO-43 mod to make it into a full coverage receiver above 30 MHz?

Some 43s could be modded for cellular band reception, and there's a mod that allows low VHF reception (60-70ish MHz range). Try www.mods.dk for the information. I never bothered to mod mine; the cell stuff is pretty much all digital now and as I recall, the low VHF mod didn't work all that well (not much to hear there anyway, in the U.S.).
