Hello from a newbie!

I received a Pro-433 for Christmas a few years ago. Took it down to Radio Shack the next day and had them program in all the local police and fire frequencies for me.

It worked fine for a long time and then about 1 1/2 years ago, it started 'cutting out' (don't know the technical term for this). About every 5 seconds or so it will cut out for a split second. Like it will cause one number out of an address to be lost or someone's first name, etc.

I took it back to Radio Shack and they said the local dispatch system was doing *something* with their system and to give it a few weeks and see if it sorted itself out. We went over and checked the Pro-433 on the shelf, and it was doing the same thing as mine. Well, it never did "sort itself out", and it's driving me nuts. ;-)

Since then, they have quit selling the Pro 433s, and no one at Radio Shack can give me an answer on why my scanner is doing this.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

After having a look at the PDF of the manual that someone here posted a link for (thanks!), and fiddling with it, turns out it was the Signal Stalker function that was causing it to cut out. One of the guys at Radio Shack must have turned it on when he was programming in frequencies for me.

Seems to be working great now.

To me it sounds as though the priority channel check has been turned on. On the scanner's display see if you see "PRI" at all, if you do, press the "PRI" button to turn this off.

When on, the scanner checks the priority channels, regardless of communications on other frequencies. This could be why you are experiencing the "cut out" of communications.

Check out pg. 16 of your users manual for a complete explination of the priority channels.

Good Luck,
Keith
