This is a feature I've never been bold enough to try. I'm of the old school of plugging a scanner in, program the channels in, and go. These new ones throw me pretty good. I had to have a guy walk me through the trunking setup via a long distance phone call! No one in Abilene knew how to do it.

I've read the manual about using the stalker, but the further I read, the more "rocket scientist level" it becomes... to me.

If anyone has used this feature, what does it really do that normal signal searching doesn't do?

Is it really that hard to use?

Thanks!

Both "Close Call" (Uniden) and "Signal Stalker" (Radio Shack) detect only nearby radio transmissions. So for example, if you wanted to know what frequency your local McDonald's drive-thru was operating on, you could take your scanner, stand in the parking lot, turn on Close Call/Signal Stalker, and let the scanner detect the frequencies being used.

It's a handy feature, but only at relatively close range.

I see. Thanks, oregontreehugger. I doubt I'll need that, but it's good to know what it is for.
Thanks again-

It comes in handy if the police, fire or ems are at a home in your neighborhood and you don't hear anything over the known frequencies....Ray
