Pro-46 resurrection

I decided to try to revive my 1994 RS pro-46 again.
Same problem as before, a PCB trace had broken, I fixed it before by soldering s small wire from the power jack terminal back to the trace. I did that again today. I should do a more permanent repair using a longer piece of wire from the jack terminal to a different place on the trace. All I have is some 24 ga phone wire, it's solid but insulated. Maybe next time...

Great radio, a Uniden-made model. These older scanners are still fun to use, even if just for nostalgia. Here is the Rig Pix entry on it:

Nothing wrong with older scanners. My Pro 26 is still doing fine.

It was one of those what the heck decisions. My 2-meter handheld can't do AM, but this can. I will try it with my tape measure, YAGI, tomorrow. What would the chances be of catching an aircraft flying overhead and hearing it talking?

i would use a radar site to see who and what is up.
and if you click on the U on the map, it then only shows military stuff.

I was thinking more like visually tracking the aircraft, with the YAGI, while listening to it on the radio.

a yagi is not needed.
i get the space station with the old radio shack 800Mhz antenna.
145.8 145.825 437.55 437.8 all FM
they are 250 miles up and the antenna is just 6 inches long.
when a plane is up you can hear them for 50 miles without a problem.
