Okay, here's the situation. I have a Pro-48 (I know, old school) but I really like it and I have it set up with the right crystals for local police (HPD). I'm using the antenna provided, but the reception where I'm located is less that perfect to say the least. I would like to connect an external antenna for better reception. The unit has a connector that is female in the back of the unit and is the same as the one on a car radio. I need to find an adaptor the will fit into the female connector on the back of the radio and that will then accept a standard BNC connector.

I've searched many radio websites but have yet to find an adaptor that will work or even come close. I've seen the ones that allow you to piggy-back a scanner on a car antenna, but I'm looking for one that will allow a straight connection to a BNC antenna connector.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I can find such an adaptor?

Thanks in advance.

No such animal that I know of. I think you'll have to go with a Motorola plug to SO-239 adaptor and then a PL-259 to BNC adaptor. The option is to cut off the BNC connector and put on a Motorola plug. They are pretty easy to do if you don't mind dedicating the antenna to what's essentially an obsolete scanner antenna connector.

I kinda thought I would need to perform surgery on something to get it to work.

Thanks for the info.
