Whenever I plug my 528 in to charge, it won't charge at all and the display reads 'ERR CHAr9' What's goin on? Thanks.

Have you checked the output of the charger adapter to make sure it has the correct voltage output? That would be my first suspect before the scanner itself (jack, batteries etc.).
No it's correct, went to Radioshack itself for it. It's worked before, but now..

hey did you ever get this figured out? mine is doing it as well it was just fine but I haven't had it plugged in for about a month and I plugged it in to charge it and that came up. I've had the batteries for almost 3 years could they be bad, and be causing this?

No, still havin the problem with it. It's not the batteries, cause, if I take the batteries out, and run it off of the charger only, it still won't work.
are you set to rechargable batteries or alkalines on the dip switch in the radio?
If you are using the Radio Shack power supply with the Adapta Plug, check the polarity.
Believe me, did... It's just the charging port I think.
